There it was.... Gone.

Blogger strikes again. My usual Saturday Premier League Contest post not only didn't post at the assigned time..... it's just gone. Somewhere into the ether world.
So while I send out the sled dogs in search of my lost post... please consider this your contest post.
Post your team's results here... a lot of teams have already played, United and Tottenham are about to kick off.

There is a game Monday, so I'll accept results until noon MST on Tuesday.

Enjoy the matches..... I'm going to go get my hammer.

Premier League contest, Week 5. I'm going to hell....

Another fabulous weekend in the Premier League brought to you via long distance.
Well, I guess it's long distance all the time.... but the point is I'm not really here. I haven't been here for a few days.
Okay, I am HERE... but I'm not there, which is normally here.

Got it?

I'll be back in a day or so.

On to Week 5!

Young English sweeper Denyce Lawton shows off the new English kits, both home and away.

Yellow card for Spanish midfielder Rochelle Loewen for not replacing that torn top.

German winger Catherine Kluthe shows us the new Visi-ball that is used in the Premier League during the colder months when it's darker and the threat of snow is upon us.

Mexican striker Alejandra Gutierrez demonstrates a red card offence. Hair pulling. That's a no-no.

and yes, in this day and age, even the most popular sport in the world is susceptible to the perils and evils of political correctness.
The Phillipines brings us our first trans-gendered athlete, DJ Lady Tribe.
I can't make this stuff up.

She's doing a grea..... I mean he's done a fantas...... let's hear it for the trans-gendered.

Moving on.... all teams play this weekend, so get your picks in by monday evening at the latest.

Still time left....

Sal has extended his contest by one week until October 6th.
Like Night Owl's one card, but exclusive to hockey. Get over there and help someone complete their sets, (preferably me) or ask for help yourself. LINK <---------- clicky

Allen & Ginter, a first look. No, really!

Those of you who think I've lost it can relax. I know Ginter has flooded the interwebs since it came out, but this is my first look at it.

I didn't buy any boxes... no packs... not even a rack pack from WallyWorld. Nothing.

So when a couple of trades came up, I felt it was time. I'd waited long enough. It is, after all, mid-September.

The very first Ginter card from 2012 that I saw was Fabulous Freddie Freeman from my pal night owl.
 Isn't it special?

Next up came a few more from Nachos Grande....

Craig "the best closer in all of baseball" Kimbrel
 there's Freddie again...
Tommy Hanson. That isn't a chin under Tommy's beard, but Craig Kimbrel waiting to jump out and strike out the side.
 Martin Prado, Mr Everything.
Brian McCann. How many injuries can one guy have in one year???? Someone call Guiness.
and Chipper Jones. Someone decided to try and erase Chipper's head. Must've been a Met's fan.
So thanks for the cards guys.... but colour me unimpressed Topps. This set is dying from blahness. The checklist is still cool and the set has it's place in the hobby, but Topps needs to stop putting out the same old crap and expecting us to fork over million$.

Of course, that being said, the hypocrite in me still needs a few cards for my team set. If any of you have any extras, let me know.

I still need....

#22 Jair Jurrjens
#76 Michael Bourn
#116 Brandon Beachy
#139 Tim Hudson
#247 Hank Aaron
#257 Dan Uggla
#317 Jason Heyward

plus the mini's of course. I have no mini's!!!! Someone mini me!

Premier League Contest - Week 4

Alright, so all of our teams are back from playing Internationals, so on with Week 4.
By now, everyone knows the rules.

Because Everton and Newcastle play on Monday, I'm pushing the deadline to anytime Monday. So no posting results on Tuesdays all you late posters.

Up first is American midfielder Katie Lohman showing off the new U.S. kit for the next World Cup.
Red, White and Blue!

Brazillian defender Emily Rose shows off what Brazillians are most famous for. Yellow shirts of course!

English striker Jennifer Walcott is happy with her new ball. (does anyone read this stuff?)

From Finland, Lisa Ligon works on her throw in technique....

and finally Greek Keeper Denise Tillery makes a save to end today's post.

Good luck to you and your team this weekend, (except Wigan). I'll post a standings update sometime this week.

2012 NFL season picks... guaranteed and free.

Some of may remember a wee while ago where I, along with my cohort Jamie, made predictions regarding the 2012 NFL Draft. We picked who we thought would go and where in the 1st round. I did better than Jamie.

So he wants another go. He wants to predict the 2012 NFL season. Fine. Okay. Double or nothing. I'm in.

BUT.

If Jamie is to continue to use this blog as an online voice, we must have a way to differentiate his opinions from mine.

I think I've found a way.
