Stricken down in the prime of life...

No, not me. My computer. As near as I can tell, Firefox and Windows Updates have collided like matter-anti matter and my computer is no more.
It fires up, gets to the startup screen, then crashes and fires up again. Repeatedly. It all happened while it was automatically downloading updates for windows.
*sigh*
Until I figure out how to fix it... no posts for a little while.

Any techies out there???

If you can get into windows safe mode, you should be able to go back to the restore point before the windows update was applied.

While your computer is booting up, hit F8 until you get to options screen. Choose safe mode. This will load a special light-weight version of Windows so that you can try and troubleshoot.

Google on Windows Restore Point to figure out how to do it. It should not be to troubling to do. I've never done it, but I've seen many posts about it.

Try to reason with it. If that doesn't work hit it with your shoe. After that, I'm afraid I can't be of any more help.

The windows safe mode technique actually does work. I had to do it once for a different problem, and it works great (plus you get the added bonus of feeling like you're traveling back in time! Wicked cool).

I've always found that sweet words of encouragement work well. Just make sure that you mother or small children aren't around while you sweet talk your computer into working.
